Castagneto Carducci

Castagneto Carducci is located on the hill immediately behind the beach of Villa Emilia. It was a medieval village built around the medieval castle of the Gherardesca’s Count in 1000 DC.
Castagneto today is a small town made up of narrow streets that lead to natural terraces from which you can enjoy wonderfull views of the coast below. There are antique shops and typical restaurants that make a visit sure unforgettable.
The Carducci name was added to that of the country (originally Castagneto Maritime) in honor of the famous poet , prix Nobel , who spent a long part of his youth here and who celebrated these places in many of his poems. The house where he lived is located in the heart of the village and is now a Museum full of testimonials.

Bolgheri

The Castle of Bolgheri is located at the end of the famous avenue of cypresses, almost 5 km long, made famous by the poetry of Carducci "In front of San Guido".
In the narrow streets and typical squares you can find antique stores , art galleries, restaurants and wine bars that make a totally pleasant and interesting visit to this picturesque village.

Wine Route

The Wine Road of the Etruscan Coast crosses the territories of Bibbona and Bolgheri and then continues through the wildlife oasis of Bolgheri, until it gets to Castagneto Carducci.

The Etruscan Coast

Baratti and Populonia

The Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia extends between the promontory of Piombino and the Gulf of Baratti, where the Etruscan city of Populonia is situated, known since antiquity for its intense metallurgical activity and the production of iron.
The Archaeological Park includes a large necropolis and is divided into different areas of access, that allow you to appreciate the transformation of the landscape over the centuries and offer splendid views of the hills and the coast.
The Archaeological Museum of Piombino is culturally and functionally attached to the Park ; It is located in the New Palace in the historic center of the town.
